Welcome. I’m Julia, an Australian artist living and working on Yorta Yorta land, in North East Victoria.

Since I was 25, when I left my hometown of Melbourne for a few years working in South-East Queensland, I have lived life yearning for other places — homes I’ve made, places that have become a part of my identity. Places I hold dear.

Since then I’ve found ‘homes in the heart’ in North-East Victoria, Sydney, Northern NSW and Manchester, UK. Painting these places became a way to ease the homesickness and yearning — a way to recreate them in my heart and mind.

I know I’m not alone — in our fast-paced global world, many of us find ourselves living, working and raising families far away from the people, cities and countries that we love and miss every day. Through my art, it’s my hope that I can reconnect others with places — mine and theirs — and bring a sense of peace and gratitude for our connection with it.
